Alistair doesn't disagree. Part of it is because he's used to taking orders -- either from Duncan or one of the other Grey Wardens, or from the Grey Warden. The one he was traveling with. He didn't have any confidence in his ability to lead anyone anywhere; the other Warden was much better at making decisions. She didn't ever hesitate; she made decisions and people followed her, almost naturally.
Alistair lacked that natural leadership. He lacked the confidence to make decisions so readily and see them through. So when Sandor starts barking out orders, he's secretly thankful.
"Right," he says, giving the larger man a nod of the head. "I'll do that. If I see anyone, I'll take them with me." That might not be the most brilliant idea -- considering that the Darkspawn can sense him as much as he can sense them -- but there's always a chance that there are others here. Other Darkspawn -- who, for all he knows -- may be going after those on the Prosperina who aren't as adept at combat as he suspects he and the other man are.
He'd tell the other man to stay safe, but with a build like that, Alistair doubts he'll run into any trouble. "Good luck," he settles on instead. "I'll see you on the other side."
