Television wasn’t a form of entertainment Mycroft often indulged in. He deemed it the commodity that had replaced religion as the opium of the masses. He had a set at home, but it was mostly switched on to facilitate video conferences, CCTV footage and other work related on-screen necessities. Indeed, some might argue that Mycroft didn’t exploit any form of entertainment, but that was a myth. In fact, he did on occasion indulge in light entertainment. Usually, it meant he read a book.

This entertainment room, however, contained a television screen and as Mycroft found himself to be quite bored, it would have to do.

He tried surfing the channels for a while, but after the fourth infomercial on some alien skin-product and the fifth “Call in and Win” TV space filler he decided the chances or running into a good English drama by chance were next to nothing.

He found the search function next and typed in the name of a show as specifically as he could, including the word ‘Earth’ and ‘England’ to narrow results.

It didn’t quite work out as he would have hoped.

So, of course – of course – just as the doors of the room opened to let in the person standing on the other side, what appeared on the screen could only be described as Martian ‘80s porn.
