deadlyorigin: (you what?)

The confinement of the station had started to get to Natasha. It had been years since she'd found herself stuck in one place for so long, without a purpose or a mission. There were other complications here, but Natasha wasn't thinking about those right now, focusing instead on affecting what she could.

What she could manage wasn't as limited as some might thing. The training room empty, she'd started on a routine she'd long since perfected. It always began with stretching and stretching led to movement through all the ballet forms. Better than meditation for centering herself, Natasha shifted from position to position, correcting her form until it again felt natural. Which was when she turned to the dummies to practice something deadlier than dancing.

No matter how thorough she might be, it was never as good as training against someone. The door opened and she smiled. "Come to join me?"

With so little to do on the station, Marie has taken to wandering. So many rooms were shut off to them and she wonders what secrets they hold, what is behind those doors. Secrets can hurt, secrets can kill and she has seen too many people die. It is also her curiosity. Her whole life spent in the Monastery until that week that changed everything.

It's Dakin who sees her, waving and jogging over. He can't say why he likes the girl, only that there's something about her he wants to keep safe. It's a strange feeling but he's been dealing with a lot of strange feelings lately. He's learning to accept.

"Aurora. Wait."

She pauses as he jogs up, smiling kindly at him. "Mister Dakin. Would you like to explore?"

"It's just Dakin," he insists, a familiar struggle now. "You know we aren't going to find anything new, don't you?"

"So you say," is her response, the same as always.

That day it seems that luck is with Marie and not with Dakin. As she waves her hand past a door that's never opened they both move with surprise. "See Mister Dakin. Faith."

"Or luck," he responds as he wanders inside. It looks to him like an institutional kitchen. There are sinks, prep tables, and what he assumes are ovens, grills and refrigerators. What's really of interest is in the drawers. He pulls out something with strange wires at the end, pulling it out and holding it out. "Aurora. What is this?"

Faith. Something she has little of these days. At his question Marie laughs, "an egg beater? I do not know. It could be many things." Marie pulls out something with strange angles and sharp edges. "And this?"

"Maybe." He'd no idea, but it was a more entertaining than anything he's had to do all day.
