PORT ROYAL DOCKING PLOT : POST 1

At the university, Halloween was second only to April Fools' Day for people playing pranks on each other, so I woke up on Halloween morning ready to be on my guard. I figured whatever the station had in mind for us (if anything) it wasn't likely to be something I'd find funny, and I wanted to be ready for it, whatever it was.

It hadn't occurred to me that what the station had in store for us wouldn't be something that occurred on board. I hadn't expected the station docking announcement to play, and I sure as hell hadn't expected the world to dissolve around me when I was halfway to the hub to see what was up. I'd never transported before-- it had always been my choice, before, and I'd never planned on going anywhere the other guy might make a mess if I could help it-- but I had just enough time to figure out what the lurching feeling in my stomach probably signified before the station walls vanished.

When I blinked away the sun glare I found myself staring out a window at a bustling city full of people dressed like they were definitely not from 2012. "Well, this is... interesting," I said, turning around to the roomful of Proserpinians who'd apparently been selected to join me on my little day trip.

[Halloween docking plot is open, and this is gathering post style. Tag in, get your character dressed for some 1700s style adventuring, and see the mod post for more info!]

"And you wouldn't want anyone to see your face," Mycroft remarked dryly. He hadn't changed his clothes and was still wearing his (supposed) Savile Row three-piece. All he had changed was his tie, which he had exchanged for a cravat.

In addition he had found a cane he rather liked the look of, and on which he leaned as he spoke.

"Why would I want to hide it from anyone?" Klaus answers, a lot less dryly, a lot more amused. He has enough control not to let it shift in front of anyone unless he wants to (or, well, unless a certain so-called god is bleeding all over him), and he has a very pretty face, or so he's always been told. He smiles slightly cheekily at Mycroft, a smile that turns amused at the way the man has mostly failed to change. "Well, you're not going to draw attention at all."

"Gossip travels fast in these communities," Mycroft explained. "You wouldn't want anyone to be able to put a face to the news of blood-drained maidens." Perhaps it was in part that odd charm about Klaus that caused Mycroft to speak his mind, but it was certainly in part that he didn't mind the other knowing what he truly thought.

"What people do not know, they do not see. Your worry is appreciated, but unnecessary," he assured him.

"Right back at you, Mycroft," Klaus points out, amused by how well the man ends up making his own point. "Right back at you."

It isn't as if he's spent a thousand years feeding on people and getting away with it, after all, whether he doubts that Mycroft ever has had to evolve in... eighteenth century Caribbean? Difficult to be more precise without going outside and finding out more. Wearing a three piece suit before, so his concern is even less necessary, but it's not the first time the elder Holmes sibling expresses concern over Klaus's feeding habits being found out, so it's not a surprise.

"Blood-drained maidens speak to the imagination, a waist-coat does not," Mycroft continued, unbothered by the accusation of a pot calling a kettle.

"And it's been a while for you, I imagine."

"A while since what? My last maiden?" The last word sounds particularly sardonic; Klaus is amused by Mycroft's choice of vocabulary. It makes Klaus into the Victorian vampire of gothic novels rather than... well, what he is: real.

"The last docking," Mycroft dead-panned. His choice of words was deliberate, because he found the notion needlessly dramatic and old-fashioned.

"Sadly, I doubt I'll find wood nymphs to feed from this time around," Klaus answers easily, as he picks out a green-blue suit that will definitely mark him out as a man of importance - and wealth.

He sounds warmly nostalgic, but he's never going to forget what he experienced in Narnia.

Mycroft's smile was wholly false. "How unfortunate."

"Well, who knows," Klaus tells him, and his smile, while also false, is still somehow more genuine. "This might yet prove a world filled with voodoo, and provide me with a treat or two." He claps his hand on Mycroft's shoulder, as friendly as it gets, as if they were that tight. "Don't worry. I'll be careful."

He likes dancing this dance with the man. It's quite simply fun.

Mycroft didn't nod, or in any other way made it clear that indeed that was what he had meant. 'Be careful'. Exposure could be fatal.

He simply left it at that and made his way outside. The Port awaited.
